# What to do in Madeira when plans change

Choose a backup before you leave, so a weather or access change does not mean starting the whole day again.

## Choose a different kind of day

If your first idea is a mountain outing, consider a town visit or indoor activity as your backup. Funchal and the MUDAS contemporary art museum in Calheta are places to investigate, not promises of good weather or availability.

## Check the practical details

Check the venue’s official opening times and your journey before setting out. Confirm the return trip if using public transport. A museum suggestion is not a reservation, and a coastal outing still needs weather and access checks.

## Keep the plan small
